Goyang International Flower Foundation is known as representative flower festival in Korea. As a title of ‘The 600 year of Goyang, the flowers of Goyang gave off a fragrance from the world’, it displayed about one million variety flowers. It was held from April 27^th to May 12^th at Goyang city’s Lake park. In 1997, it was held first time and has been held once a three years. Specially, in rare plant exhibit hall Amorphophallus titanium was displayed first time in Korea known as the biggest flower in the world. It takes about 20 or 30 years to bloom. it smells too bad. So it has a nickname ‘corpse flower’. It can be seen only Sumatra I. in Indonesia and big arboretum. As flower duration of this blooms max 7 days, it was displayed as ‘Dry flower’ which means dehydrating inside of flower. Moreover the biggest orchid ‘Tiger Orchid’, big insectivorous plant ‘Nepenthes’ which could prey on bird, ‘Licorice’ which senses an earthquake etc. about 50 rare plants are specially displayed. Also you can see ‘Diamond Tulip’ the new variety in Holland and ‘King Protea’, national flower of South Africa too. There are many experience activities in festival. In floricultural experience hall, to make pressed props, to make own flowerpot, to make hanji craft, to draw picture on pottery ,etc are operated.

It gives great efforts not only on showing to tourists but also economy part of nation. From the date of 30^th, during 4 days the ‘Business Day’ was held participating about one million internal and external authorities. They talked about the way of raising and planting Kalanchoe, trend of circulation market, flower synthesizing certification ,etc. As a result, Korea contracts export contraction. This export result proves major role in floriculture exportation in Korea.

  This festival is over pitful, but Lake Rose Festival will be held from May 31^st to June 9^th at same place. I recommend to go this festival J
